What Is It

AmanahRaya (Amanah Raya Berhad) is Malaysia's premier government-owned public trustee company. They offer professional estate planning services, including Will Writing (Penulisan Wasiat) for Muslims and non-Muslims, executor appointments, and secure Will Custody (Simpanan Wasiat) services to ensure orderly estate distribution upon demise.

Who Is Eligible

  • Any individual (citizen or foreigner) aged 18 and above who owns assets in Malaysia.
  • Required Documents

  • Copy of MyKad or Passport.
  • List of assets (property titles, bank account numbers, share certificates).
  • Copy of MyKad of beneficiaries and appointed guardians (for minors).
  • Step-by-Step Procedure

    1. Consultation: Visit an AmanahRaya branch or register online to schedule an estate planning consultation. 2. List Beneficiaries: Detail the distribution percentages and specify assets allocated to each beneficiary. 3. Appoint Executor: Appoint AmanahRaya as the sole Executor and Trustee of your estate (ensuring neutral estate management). 4. Draft Review: AmanahRaya's legal officers draft the Will document. Review and verify spelling and terms. 5. Execution (Signing): Sign the Will in the physical presence of two independent witnesses (AmanahRaya can provide witnesses at their office). 6. Secure Custody: The signed original Will is stored in AmanahRaya's fireproof vaults. You receive a Will Card and certified copies.

  • Important Notes

  • For Muslims, wills are subject to Syariah rules: a maximum of one-third (1/3) of the estate can be willed to non-heirs (non-Faraid beneficiaries). The remaining two-thirds (2/3) must be distributed according to Faraid (Islamic inheritance law) unless all heirs agree otherwise.
