What Is It

Politeknik (Polytechnics) are government premier technical institutions in Malaysia offering diploma, advanced diploma, and degree courses in engineering, IT, business, and hospitality under the TVET national agenda.

Who Is Eligible

  • Malaysian citizen.
  • Held a valid SPM with at least 3 credits (including Mathematics/Science depending on the course) and passes in BM, History, and English.
  • Types of Polytechnics

  • Premier (Premier): Academic heavy, offers degrees.
  • Conventional (Konvensional): Offers highly technical diplomas.
  • Metro (Metro): Located in cities, focuses on service industries.
  • Required Documents

  • SPM Slip: Verified copies.
  • Co-curricular Records: Printout of school co-curricular marks (PAJSK).
  • Step-by-Step Procedure

    1. UPU Account: Register and purchase UPU PIN code from BSN (fee: RM15-20). 2. Online Application: Log in to UPUOnline (upu.mohe.gov.my) during the national application window (typically February to April). 3. Select Course: Select 'Politeknik/Kolej Komuniti' under the category choices. Add your target engineering or business diplomas. 4. Check Results: Results are released in July. Accept the offer online. 5. Register: Attend the physical enrollment registration day at the polytechnic.

    Cost & Processing Time

  • Cost: UPU PIN fee is RM15. Tuition fee at conventional polytechnics is RM200 per semester (6 months).
  • Processing Time: Follows the UPU national calendar. Offers are issued 3 months post-application.
