What Is It

The Tribunal for Consumer Claims (Tribunal Tuntutan Pengguna Malaysia - TTPM) is an independent body established under the Consumer Protection Act 1999. It provides consumers with a fast, cheap, and simple channel to claim compensation from sellers for faulty goods or subpar services.

Who Is Eligible

  • Any consumer who purchased goods or services for personal/household consumption.
  • The dispute value must be below RM50,000.
  • The claim must be filed within 3 years of the incident.
  • Required Documents

  • Form 1 (TTPM): Stating the claim details.
  • Receipts / Invoices: Proof of purchase.
  • Warranty Card: (If claiming for product defect).
  • Communications: Copy of WhatsApp chats, emails, or letters showing attempts to resolve the dispute with the seller.
  • Step-by-Step Procedure

    1. Online Filing: Register on the e-Tribunal Portal (ttpm.kpdn.gov.my) or visit the KPDN state office. 2. Fill Form 1: Complete the claim details, state the compensation amount requested, and pay the filing fee. 3. Serve Defendant: Print 4 copies of the stamped Form 1. Send one copy to the seller/shop (respondent) via AR Registered Post or hand delivery. 4. Hearing: Attend the hearing at the KPDN offices. No lawyers are allowed; you must present your evidence (receipts, photos, chats) to the Tribunal President yourself. 5. Award: The President delivers the Award (judgment) immediately. The seller must comply within 14 days.

  • Cost: Filing fee is only RM5.00.
  • Processing Time: The hearing is scheduled within 40 to 60 days after filing.
