What Is It

A Sole Proprietorship (one owner) or Partnership (2 to 20 owners) is the simplest and cheapest business structure in Malaysia. It must be registered with the Companies Commission of Malaysia (SSM) under the Registration of Businesses Act 1956.

Who Is Eligible

  • Malaysian citizen or Permanent Resident.
  • Aged 18 years and above.
  • Required Documents

  • MyKad / MyPR: Copy of identity card.
  • Trade Name Approval: (If using a trade name instead of personal name).
  • Partnership Agreement: (Optional, but recommended for partnerships).
  • Step-by-Step Procedure

    1. EzBiz Account: Register an account on the EzBiz Portal (ezbiz.ssm.com.my) and activate it via biometric check at any JPN/SSM kiosk. 2. New Business (Form A): Log in, select 'New Business Registration' (Form A). 3. Business Details: Enter business name, principal activity, start date, and address. 4. Add Partners: (For partnership) Input partners' MyKad numbers and obtain their approval via their EzBiz portal. 5. Fee Payment: Pay the registration fee online via FPX. 6. Certificate: Download the Business Registration Certificate (Form D) and Business Profile.
