# Sarawak: Kenyalang Gold Card (KGC)
What Is It
Kenyalang Gold Card (KGC) is a government welfare initiative in Sarawak to enhance the wellbeing of senior citizens. Cardholders enjoy discount privileges at merchant partners and are entitled to a one-off RM3,000 compassionate bereavement aid (Bantuan Ihsan Kematian - BIK) paid to their next of kin.
Who Is Eligible
Malaysian citizen residing in Sarawak.
Aged 60 and above.
Holds 'K' status on their MyKad (indicating Sarawak origin) or a permanent resident of Sarawak.
Required Documents
Copy of applicant's MyKad (displaying 'K' status).
Copy of next of kin's MyKad (for beneficiary nomination).
Step-by-Step Procedure
1. Access i-SarawakCare: Visit the official i-SarawakCare web portal.
2. Apply Online: Log in or create an account, select 'Kenyalang Gold Card' application, fill in personal details and submit.
3. Manual Alternative: Download the application form and submit to a Divisional Welfare Office.
4. Approval & Card Collection: Once approved, collect the KGC card at the local Divisional Social Welfare Office.
5. Usage: Present the card at participating clinics, supermarkets, optical shops, and transportation providers to receive discounts.

Cost: Free of charge.
Processing Time: 2 to 4 weeks for card processing.

Important Notes
Upon the cardholder's passing, the next of kin must submit a death certificate within 90 days to claim the RM3,000 Bantuan Ihsan Kematian (BIK), provided the deceased does not receive similar benefits from EPF, SOCSO, or pensions.
