# Car/Motorcycle Road Tax (LKM) Renewal

What Is It

Private vehicle owners in Malaysia are legally required to renew their Motor Vehicle License (LKM), commonly known as Road Tax, annually. The renewal can be processed digitally via the MyJPJ App, mySIKAP portal, or physically at Pos Malaysia branches and JPJ offices.

Who Is Eligible

  • Vehicle owners who have active motor insurance cover (compulsory third-party or comprehensive) matching the renewal duration.
  • The vehicle must not have active blacklists or outstanding summonses under PDRM or JPJ.
  • Required Documents

  • MyKad or Passport.
  • Active motor insurance coverage policy.
  • Vehicle Ownership Certificate (VOC) (if renewing at counters).
  • Step-by-Step Procedure

    1. Renew LKM Insurance: Renew your vehicle's motor insurance policy beforehand. 2. Access App/Counter: Open the MyJPJ App or visit a Pos Malaysia branch. 3. Select LKM Renewal: Navigate to 'Road Tax Renewal' and enter your vehicle registration plate number. 4. Make Payout: Pay the calculated road tax fee (calculated by engine displacement/cc) online or at the counter. 5. Get Digital Slip: Successful online renewals generate a digital LKM displayable on the MyJPJ App. Physical renewals print a road tax slip.

    Cost & Processing Time

  • Cost: Calculated by engine displacement (cc) and location (Peninsular Malaysia vs. East Malaysia). E.g., Motorcycle (under 150cc) is RM2.00, Car (1.5L Engine) is RM90.00.
  • Processing Time: Instant verification and delivery.
  • Where to Apply

  • Mobile App: MyJPJ App.
  • Online: [mySIKAP Portal](https://public.jpj.gov.my)
  • In-person: Any Pos Malaysia branch office or JPJ counter nationwide.
  • Important Notes

  • Physical road tax stickers are no longer mandatory; drivers can show their digital road tax slip on the MyJPJ App during inspections.
