What Is It
The Competent Driver's License (CDL) renewal process is managed by the Malaysian Road Transport Department (JPJ). This process allows drivers to renew their driving licenses for periods ranging from 1 to 5 years. Renewal can be done through physical JPJ offices, UTC, 1JPJ counters, eKhidmat kiosks, Pos Malaysia, MyJPJ app, or mySIKAP portal.

Malaysian citizens with a valid driving license
Foreigners with a valid driving license and passport
Individuals not blacklisted by JPJ
Required Documents
MyKad (for Malaysian citizens) or passport (for foreigners)
Existing driving license
One recent photograph (25mm x 32mm, white background)
Step-by-Step Procedure
1. Choose Renewal Period: Select 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5 years.
2. Gather Documents: MyKad/passport, existing license, and photo.
3. Select Renewal Channel:
- MyJPJ App: For digital license renewal (eLMM/digital driving license)
- mySIKAP Portal: public.jpj.gov.my
- JPJ offices, UTC, 1JPJ counters, eKhidmat kiosks, Pos Malaysia nationwide
4. Submit Documents and Pay Fees at the chosen channel.
5. Receive renewed driving license.
Cost & Processing Time
Malaysian Citizens: Class D and above RM30/year, Class B2/B/C RM20/year, Class A/A1 RM2/year
Non-Citizens: RM120/year for all classes
Processing time varies by channel, typically same day at counters
