What Is It

The Malaysian passport (Paspot Malaysia) is the official international travel document issued by the Immigration Department of Malaysia (Jabatan Imigresen). It comes in a biometric e-passport with a 5-year validity.

Who Is Eligible

Eligibility: Malaysian citizens with valid MyKad.

Required Documents

  • Original MyKad (IC): required for first-time application
  • Original birth certificate: required for first-time application
  • One passport-sized photo: with blue background, strict specifications
  • RM200 fee: for 5-year validity
  • Step-by-Step Procedure

    1. First-Time Application: apply at any Immigration Department office with passport services 2. Online Renewal (MyOnline Passport): visit https://www.imi.gov.my or use MyOnline Passport portal, upload current passport photo, pay online, collect at selected kiosk or counter 3. Self-Service Kiosk (24/7): available at KLIA, KL Sentral, UTC KL, and major Immigration offices, scan MyKad, pay by card or Touch 'n Go, photo taken at kiosk, passport issued in 5-10 minutes 4. Walk-in Counter: queue at Immigration Department, pay at counter, collect same day

  • Senior citizen (60+): RM100
  • OKU (disabled): RM100
  • Child under 12: RM100
  • Urgent (same day at Putrajaya): RM300

    Important Notes

  • Passport photo: white/blue background, no glasses, no head cover (except for religious reasons)
  • Arrive 30 min before office closing for new applications
  • Many UTC shopping malls have Immigration counters with extended hours
  • MyOnline Passport collection can be done at different location from application
