# National Immunisation Programme (NIP) for Children
What Is It
The National Immunisation Programme (NIP) is a public health initiative by the Ministry of Health (KKM) providing free vaccination protection for children against 13 vaccine-preventable diseases (including Tuberculosis, Hepatitis B, Diphtheria, Tetanus, Pertussis, Polio, MMR, HPV, and Japanese Encephalitis).
Who Is Eligible
All Malaysian children (newborns up to school-going age).
Services are provided free of charge at all government Klinik Kesihatan.
Required Documents
Child's Birth Certificate or MyKid.
Child's Health Record Book (Buku Rekod Kesihatan Kanak-Kanak / Buku Pink or Biru).
Mother's MyKad.
Step-by-Step Procedure
1. Visit Local Clinic: Register your newborn at the nearest government Klinik Kesihatan (usually during the first neonatal checkup).
2. Follow Schedule: KKM nurses establish a vaccine schedule in the Child's Health Record Book based on the NIP timeline.
3. Book Appointment: Book slots online via the MySejahtera app under 'Janji Temu Kesihatan - Imunisasi'.
4. Attend Clinic: Bring the child along with the Health Record Book on the scheduled date.
5. Vaccine Intake: The nurse administers the vaccine and logs the batch number and date in the record book.
6. Post-Vaccination Monitoring: Wait in the clinic lobby for 15 minutes to monitor for any immediate allergic reactions.
Cost & Processing Time
Cost: Free of charge for citizens.
Processing Time: Vaccinations are completed during a standard clinic visit (takes 1 to 2 hours).
Where to Apply
In-person: Any government health clinic (Klinik Kesihatan) or Maternal and Child Health Clinic (Klinik Kesihatan Ibu dan Anak - KKIA) nationwide.
Important Notes
Parents must preserve the Child's Health Record Book safely. It is a mandatory document required during enrollment into public primary schools.
