What Is It
A Temporary Resident Identity Card, commonly known as a green card, issued under Regulation 5(3)(c) of the National Registration Regulations 1990. Its purpose is to provide an identity document for individuals born in Malaysia whose citizenship status cannot be determined. It does not confer citizenship, voting rights, or any privileges associated with Malaysian citizenship.

Individuals born in Malaysia whose citizenship status cannot be determined.
Required Documents
Birth Certificate or Adoption Certificate: Original and copy of birth certificate or adoption certificate.
Valid Passports or Identity Documents of Parents: Valid passports or identity documents of parents (if any).
National Registration Department (JPN) Application Forms: Relevant National Registration Department (JPN) application forms.
Applications are assessed strictly on a case-by-case basis.
Step-by-Step Procedure
1. Gather Required Documents: Gather all required documents as listed above.
2. Complete Application Forms: Complete the necessary National Registration Department (JPN) application forms.
3. Submit Application: Submit the application and supporting documents to the National Registration Department.

Cost: A JPN processing fee applies.
Validity: The MyKAS card is valid for 5 years and must be renewed upon expiry.

Important Notes
Possession of a MyKAS card does not guarantee future Permanent Resident (MyPR) or citizen (MyKad) status.
Holders of the MyKAS card are required to continue their efforts to trace their parentage or country of origin.
