What Is It

The Malaysian University English Test (MUET) is a standardized English language proficiency test managed by the Malaysian Examinations Council (MPM). It is a mandatory requirement for admission into undergraduate degree programs at public universities (IPTA) in Malaysia.

Who Is Eligible

  • School Candidates: Students currently enrolled in STPM, Matriculation, Foundation, or Diploma programs in government schools/colleges.
  • Private Candidates: Individuals who have finished high school or are working, wishing to apply to university.
  • Required Documents / Registration Info

  • MyKad / Passport: Copy of identity document.
  • MEC Pin Number: Purchased from Bank Simpanan Nasional (BSN) or paid online.
  • Step-by-Step Procedure

    1. Purchase Pin: Buy the MUET registration PIN at any BSN branch, BSN ATM, or directly online via the MPM portal. 2. Online Portal: Visit the MPM register site (muet.mpm.edu.my) during the active registration window. 3. Fill Information: Fill in personal details, target test session, and preferred test town/district. 4. Slip Print: Print the MUET registration confirmation slip (Slip MUET/D). 5. Sitting the Exam: Attend the speaking, listening, reading, and writing exams. Results are graded from Band 1 (lowest) to Band 6 (highest).

    Cost & Processing Time

  • Cost: Registration fee is RM100 for Malaysian candidates and RM250 for foreign candidates.
  • Processing Time: MUET is conducted 3 times a year (Sessions 1, 2, and 3). Results are released online within 8 to 10 weeks after the final written paper.
