# Halal Certification Application (JAKIM)
What Is It
The Malaysia Halal Certification (SPHM) is an official document issued by the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM) or respective State Islamic Religious Departments (JAIN) certifying that a business's products or services comply with Islamic Shariah laws and Malaysian Halal standards.
Who Is Eligible
Manufacturers, food premises operators, slaughterhouses, logistics providers, and pharmaceutical companies registered with SSM or local authorities.
The business must employ at least one Muslim supervisor/worker in the production area.
Required Documents
Copy of SSM registration certificate or local authority license.
Complete raw materials list along with valid Halal certificates for each ingredient.
Manufacturing process flowchart.
Pest control contract and hygiene records.
Product layout and packaging layout plan.
Step-by-Step Procedure
1. Access MYeHalal: Register a business account on the official MYeHalal portal.
2. Submit Online Form: Complete the online application and upload all ingredient lists and Halal certs.
3. Verify Ingredients: Submit raw material specifications and proof of Halal supply chains.
4. Pay Application Fee: Make the payment for application and processing fees once the system validates the application.
5. Site Audit: JAKIM or JAIN audit officers conduct a physical audit of the premises to inspect cleanliness, raw materials, storage, and processing.
6. Halal Panel Meeting: The audit reports are presented to the Halal Panel for final decision.
7. Certificate Issue: Once approved, the Halal Certificate is generated online and sent to the applicant.
Cost & Processing Time
Cost:
- Micro-industry: RM100 for 2 years.
- Small-industry: RM400 for 2 years.
- Medium-industry: RM800 for 2 years.
- Food premises/restaurants: RM200 per premises for 2 years.
Processing Time: SPHM applications are processed and audited within 30 days of successful payment and documents verification.

Important Notes
The Halal certificate is valid for 2 years (or 5 years for slaughterhouses) and must be renewed online 3 months before the expiry date.
Raw materials from sources without recognized Halal certificates will result in application rejection.
