What Is It

The Learner's Driving License (LDL) or 'Lesen L' is a temporary license required to learn to drive. It allows you to practice driving under supervision.

Who Is Eligible

Anyone who has passed the KPP01 theory test and is at least 17 years old (for motorcar) or 16 years old (for motorcycle).

Required Documents

  • MyKad or Passport: For identification and registration.
  • Passport-sized photo: For registration.
  • Step-by-Step Procedure

    1. Register at a Licensed Driving Institute: Visit a registered driving school with your MyKad/Passport and passport-sized photo. 2. Attend the KPP01 Theory Course: Complete the mandatory 6-hour course covering road laws, safety, KEJARA demerit points, and vehicle maintenance. 3. Sit for the KPP01 Test: Take the computer-based test with 50 questions (single class) or 70 questions (combined motorcar + motorcycle class). The time limit is 1 hour 15 minutes, and the passing score is 80% (56/70 for combined class). 4. Receive Results and LDL: Once passed, receive your results slip, and the driving school will apply for and print your LDL ('Lesen L').

  • Registration Fee: RM160 (varies by driving school).
  • KPP01 Test Fee: RM50 (single class) or RM70 (combined class).
  • Processing Time: Immediate upon passing the test.

  • Licensed Driving Institutes: Register at any registered driving school in Malaysia.
  • Important Notes

  • Validity: The LDL is valid for 3 or 6 months and can be renewed up to a maximum of 2 years.
  • P-Stickers: Display 'L' plates on your vehicle.
