What Is It

Cameron Highlands is Malaysia's largest highland resort station, famous for its tea plantations, cool climate, strawberry farms, and vegetable markets. The region is managed by the Cameron Highlands District Council (MDCH).

Who Is Eligible

  • Open to all local and foreign visitors.

    • Required Documents

  • None for general entry.
  • Note: Permit from the Pahang Forestry Department is required to trek inside selected forest reserves (such as Mount Brinchang or Mossy Forest).

    • Step-by-Step Procedure

    1. Plan Route: Choose between the Simpang Pulai route (gentler slope) or the Tapah route (narrower, winding roads) to drive up. 2. Visit Tea Estates: Visit major tea plantations (like Boh Tea Garden or Bharat Tea Plantation). Respect farm boundaries and stick to paths. 3. Strawberry Plucking: Visit registered strawberry farms (e.g. Raju's Hill or Big Red Strawberry Farm) to participate in self-plucking activities. 4. Mossy Forest Permit: To visit the Mossy Forest boardwalk: - Hire a registered 4WD vehicle provider (private cars are not permitted up the steep access road). - Purchase the forestry permit at the trail entrance. 5. Weekly Markets: Visit the Kea Farm Market (daily morning market) or Golden Hills Weekend Night Market (Friday/Saturday nights) to purchase fresh highland produce.

    • - Entrance to tea estates: Free. - Mossy Forest Entry Permit: RM10 (Malaysian adult), RM30 (International adult). - 4WD transport to Mossy Forest: Around RM25.00 per person.
  • Processing Time: Mossy Forest permits are issued instantly at the entrance checkpoint.
